On July 20, The Designers Group will celebrate five years in our New York office! This summer we are busier than ever, but I still wanted to take some time to reflect on the past five years and introduce an exciting new program we are offering in honor of our anniversary.
TDG was originally established in Toronto, Canada, but I always dreamed of establishing
an international branch and opening a location in a design hub like New York. Moving to New York introduced the TDG to design opportunities across the country while bringing us new ideas and inspiration every day. During our five years in New York, we designed over 200 residential, commercial, hospitality, and healthcare projects. This year, we were ranked No. 15 on Inc Magazine’s list of the fastest growing private companies in the New York City Metro Area.
Community is one of the core values here at TDG. Our New York team has designed spaces for charitable organizations with TDG Gives Back, spearheaded COVID relief initiatives, and launched the TDG Furniture Exchange in three countries. For our 3-year anniversary we offered pro-bono design services for 3 charitable organizations as a way to give back to the New York community we have grown to love so much. Now, in honor of our fifth anniversary, I am excited to announce a new initiative: TDG Insider.
With TDG Insider, we want to give back and inspire the next generation of great designers by showing them what it's really like to work in interior design. Once a week throughout the summer, we will host a day-in-the-life visit for an aspiring designer. Participants will have the opportunity to shadow TDG staff in various departments throughout the day, giving them a firsthand look at all aspects of the design process. We hope TDG Insider will provide a comprehensive and inspiring introduction for those interested in pursuing a career in interior design. Program participants will also be able to stay in touch with and be mentored by one of our designers as they get ready to begin a career. The TDG design team is already hard at work developing design challenges and activities and can't wait to meet the next great designers!
