As I reflect on what it means to be a woman in the real estate and interior design industry, I can't help but think of my journey and the incredible women who have been a part of it. When I started my journey in the design industry, I was fortunate to be surrounded by supportive colleagues and mentors who recognized my talents and potential. As a woman, I wasn't met with disbelief or skepticism, but rather with encouragement and opportunities to grow and excel. Looking back, I'm grateful for those who believed in me and helped me carve out a path in a field that can still be challenging for women to navigate.
One particular project stands out in my mind. We were tasked with redesigning a senior living facility and determined to make it feel like home for the residents. As we worked on the project, I was struck by the resilience and determination of the elderly women we met. They had lived through so much and had so many stories to tell. We made sure to incorporate their stories and experiences into the design of the facility, creating a warm and welcoming space that honored their lives and their legacy. When we presented the final design to the residents, I was moved to tears by their emotional reactions.
It was a reminder that our work as women in this industry goes beyond just creating beautiful spaces. We have the power to make a real difference in people's lives, to create spaces that reflect their personalities, their stories, and their dreams. So on this Women's International Day, I celebrate all the incredible women in the real estate and interior design industry who are breaking barriers and creating meaningful change. Let's continue to work together to make our mark on this industry and create a more inclusive, diverse, and supportive community for all women.
