Designing Smarter with AI

Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to speak on a panel at the BuiltWorlds conference—and it was such a meaningful experience.

The topic was AI in the AEC industry, and I was lucky to join some incredible voices on stage: Eddy Krygiel from Autodesk, Robert Ioanna from Syska Hennessy, and Alfonso Oliva from NVIDIA. The room was filled with people who are reimagining how we design, build, and operate spaces—and it felt exciting to be part of the conversation.

We talked about everything from how AI is enhancing the design process to the promise of digital twins and the importance of data infrastructure. One thing that stuck with me: it’s not just about having the tools. It’s about having the mindset and the culture to use them well.

At TDG, we’ve started using AI to help us work faster and smarter. We’re able to generate sketches, test layouts, and visualize options in minutes. It’s giving us more room to experiment and more time to focus on what matters most: designing spaces that can support the people who use them.

Being in that room reminded me why I love this work. It’s not about keeping up—it’s about staying curious, staying thoughtful, and always designing with purpose.

We’re only at the beginning. And I can’t wait to see where it leads!
