Why We are Creating an AI Course for Interior Designers

At The Designers Group, we have always believed design should make an impact. That idea shapes the spaces we create, the way we think, and the way we contribute to our industry. Over the past few years, we have been exploring how artificial intelligence can support the interior design process. As we began integrating AI tools into more of our workflow at TDG, I kept coming back to how much potential these technologies have to help designers work in smarter and more intentional ways.

Used thoughtfully, AI does not replace the designer. Instead, it helps designers research faster, explore ideas more efficiently, and spend more time focusing on the creative and strategic aspects of design. At the same time, I was hearing the same thing from others in the industry. Many interior designers are curious about AI, but they feel overwhelmed about where to begin. They know the technology is becoming more relevant, but they are not sure how it fits into the day-to-day work of design. That kept bringing me back to the same thought. If we had found ways to make this easier to understand and more useful in practice, why keep it to ourselves?

At TDG, we care about impact beyond the projects we deliver. If something we have learned can help other designers save time, strengthen their process, and feel more prepared for where the industry is going, we want to share it. That is what led us to create the TDG AI Course for Designers. Launching next month, the course is designed as a practical and beginner-friendly introduction to AI for interior designers. It focuses on how designers can use AI tools in ways that support the work they are already doing, from research and concept development to visual exploration and presentations.

Our goal is simple: to make AI feel more accessible and more relevant to the design community. For us, this is part of designing with purpose. It means contributing something useful to our industry and helping other designers feel more prepared as technology continues to reshape how we work. We are excited to share more soon!
